“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit.” 1Peter 3:4

This scripture is saying that a meek and quiet spirit is precious in the eyes of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He desires for us, as women, to be clothed with this. What exactly is meekness? It is a state of humility, gentleness, patient submission to authority. It represents a state of trust. Quietness, in like manner, shows a trusting attitude. Not only does quietness mean a restraint from speech or outward disturbance, it also represents tranquility and peace. Quietness is also a source of strength for the Christian.

“Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength.” Isaiah 41:1

“For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.” Isaiah 30:15

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” Isaiah 32:17

Jesus himself said that He was lowly and meek. He said that He came to serve. In the true ministry of Jesus Christ, there is an honorable and active role for the women to fill. ( Not the role of a man!) The scriptures are full of examples of holy women of God who found joy and contentment serving and ministering to the needs of the saints.

“I commend unto you Phoebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succorer of many, and of myself also.” Romans 16:1-2

This sister was actively filling the Godly, holy role of a Spirit-filled daughter of Zion. The word translated servant comes from the Greek word “diakonos”, which means to serve, especially in the sense of menial duties. The word succor means to help or relieve in difficulty, need, or distress. This is the heart of a true born-again, Spirit-filled believer. The heart of a servant.

Being in the ministry of deliverance has helped me and many others to be able to let this quality and attribute of Christ shine forth. Before coming into this knowledge of deliverance, there were many things that I knew I should be doing as service to my Lord. It always seemed that the love of God that I knew was shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost, was being choked out by something. As I started to recognize the workings of evil spirits in my life, I was able to understand some of what that “unseen force” was that was always holding me back. These evil spirits first try to deceive your mind into believing their lies. Then, once you do that, they have legal ground and free access (with the cooperation of your will!) to do all kinds of damage in your life. Thanks be to God, He has revealed to us, and given us the authority to cast out these evil spirits in Jesus name!

As I started to learn about demons and how they work, I found that the first step to deliverance was falling out of agreement with the spirits. Remember I said earlier that they first deceive you into believing them. So by falling out of agreement with them, you are actively choosing to believe God and not satan. Then, slowly but surely, the layers of spirits can be recognized and cast out. As each spirit is cast out you find yourself more liberated and able to serve Christ more fully. You will begin to see the love of God and the gifts of the Spirit fill all the places that were once occupied by the forces of darkness. Then you will be able to manifest the true heart of Christ: the heart of a servant.

“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.” John 12:26
